Call for Papers
‘Works in Progress’: The Postgraduate Symposium of Art History and Museum and Heritage Studies, 2025
The School of Art History at the University of St Andrews warmly invites postgraduate students working towards an MLitt or PhD in Art History or Museum and Heritage Studies, or those who have completed their research degree within the last 3 years, to submit abstracts for 15 minute papers for the one-day 2025 Postgraduate Symposium of Art History and Museum & Heritage Studies. There is no strict theme for the 2025 Symposium, and we encourage any papers related to the disciplines of Art History and Museum & Heritage Studies.
This Symposium will convene to celebrate the varied research undertaken within the School of Art History at the University of St Andrews. It provides a supportive environment for those working in the fields of Art History and Museum and Heritage Studies to present their research, exchange ideas, and build community. We envisage that papers given at this Symposium will form the first edition of a new peer-reviewed postgraduate journal in the School. The Symposium welcomes students from diverse research areas, encouraging engagement with interdisciplinarity and fresh perspectives.
This event will take place in person and will run for the full day, with PGR workshops scheduled for the morning. Panels will be recorded. If you are interested in running a workshop, we will be sending out a call for workshop conveners on Tuesday, 1st July 2025. The afternoon will focus on panels comprised of the papers submitted through this Call.
To apply, please submit a title, abstract (max. 300 words), and a 100-word bio by Thursday, 31st July 2025, to [email protected]
